Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support project teams in delivering world-class designs for a wide range of facilities. You will work under licensed engineers through the design and construction process, adapting plans to budget and client needs.

You will participate in producing drawings, assisting with data collection, reports, and presentations, and contribute to quality checks across CAD tools and BIM workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering concepts and methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; basic CAD tools used in civil design.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, organization and problem solving.
• Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil design from concept to design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for diverse projects.
• Assist in designing civil components per project needs.
• Apply basic civil engineering concepts to design tasks.
• Research and compile project data as required by managers.
• Assist with studies and reports.
• Update drawings across CAD software.
• Support client presentations, shop drawing review and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections and measurements for clients.
• Comply with policies and standards.
