Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Morristown, NJ is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer to support project teams on a range of facilities, including power, healthcare, and industrial sectors. You will work under a licensed engineer, assisting with design, drawings, and field activities to adapt plans to budget and client needs.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree with ABET accreditation, strong communication skills, and experience with CAD and structural analysis software.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field; ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• A master’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural design is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in structural design from concept through design completion.
• Review and modify production drawings for a variety of projects.
• Design structural components per project manager requirements.
• Apply basic structural engineering concepts and codes.
• Assist with project data gathering and CAD-related updates.
• Support client presentations, shop drawings, and contract administration.
• Conduct field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
• Adhere to all policies and standards.
