Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to support project teams across power, process, healthcare, and infrastructure facilities. You will assist in mechanical design from concept through construction, review drawings, and help with field measurements under supervision of a licensed PE.

The role emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and the application of standard engineering practices with CAD/BIM tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred and FE/EIT pathway considered.
• internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Proficiency in CAD and BIM tools with basic analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanical design from concept through design completion.
• Review and modify production drawings for diverse facilities.
• Assist in designing mechanical components per project needs.
• Apply standard engineering principles and practices in projects.
• Support data collection, CAD updates, and project documentation.
• Participate in client presentations and shop drawing reviews.
• Assist with field measurements, inspections, and calculations.
• Contribute to contract administration and coordination with teams.
