University of California, Merced is seeking an Assistant Storekeeper to help manage receiving, logistics, organization, and distribution of Campus Store inventory not on the sales floor. You will maintain computer-based records of back stock and inventory locations, supporting inventory-related admin tasks.
The role requires familiarity with inventory systems, ability to lift heavy items, and forklift certification.
Salary or hourly range for this position is $21.05/hr – $27.75/hr. The realized minimum pay is $25/hr.
Review of applications will occur as openings become available. Candidates will be selected for temporary employment in various departments as positions become available. This position is reopened every six months. This position will close on 12/31/2026.
These union positions are represented by the bargaining unit AFSCME: Service – SX. These are temporary positions.

Under the general supervision of the Stores Supervisor, the Assistant Storekeeper will assist in managing the receiving, logistics, organization, and distribution of all Campus Store inventory not on the sales floor. The incumbent will assist with inventory related administrative and receiving functions for all Campus Store merchandise. The Assistant Storekeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate computer-based records of inventory in back stock and its location. This position requires familiarity with computer-based inventory systems and is physically demanding, involving the lifting and movement of heavy textbooks and driving a 20‑foot truck.
