University of California, Merced is seeking a temporary staff member to support Moving & Events operations across day, night, and weekend events on campus. Responsibilities include setup, monitoring, and recovery services at multiple locations on and off campus, with limited furniture moves and light installation or removal of decor.
The role requires safety awareness, ability to lift and move objects, strong communication, and reliable teamwork.
Salary range: $21.05/hr - $25.64/hr. The realized minimum pay for this position will be $25/hr; steps below $25/hr include an adjustment to reach $25/hr.

This is a temporary position to support the General Services Department during periodic increases in workload. Primary duties include supporting Moving & Events operations across day, night, and weekend events. Responsibilities include set up, monitoring, and recovery support at multiple locations on and off campus; limited furniture moves; and simple installation or removal of wall decorations or furniture.
Duties include setting up and operating public address systems, chairs and seating, tables, stages, scaffolding, and other equipment in support of events year-round. The role requires following safety standards and using moving and lifting equipment, PA and electrical systems, and power and hand tools. Adhere to ergonomic guidelines to reduce injuries and work collaboratively to improve efficiency while observing campus energy conservation policies.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with emergency cleanup projects, maintaining equipment inventory, and supporting other General Services tasks such as campus groundskeeping. Operate assigned University vehicles and Facilities equipment such as forklifts, scissors, and boom lifts. Maintain neatness and security of the work space and collaborate with event coordinators and team members to achieve high-quality results. Follow UC and departmental policies and demonstrate good judgment in all tasks and operations.
