The University of California, Merced is seeking an entry-level clerical assistant to support departmental operations, performing data entry, filing, inventory, and general office tasks. Work is performed under close supervision with clearly defined procedures.
Incumbents will handle routine responsibilities such as answering phones, managing calendars, and assisting with mailings, while learning university policies and procedures in a structured environment.
Hiring Range: The University of California, Merced will offer a salary range based on Step 1: $21.92 to Step 9: $26.09. The hourly range is Step 1: $21.92 per hour.
Review of applications will occur as openings become available. Candidates will be selected for temporary employment as positions become available. This position reopens every six months. The position will close on 12/31/2026.
Incumbents may provide business services such as purchasing, inventory and stores, facilities and space utilization; and provide general clerical as well as administrative assistance to departmental staff. Work is performed under close supervision or in accordance with clearly defined procedures that require very little or no interpretation. The position performs the most routine and/or repetitive tasks with limited decision making.
