Job summary

Family Dollar in Norwood, NC seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with merchandise transfers, open/close procedures, and adherence to corporate directives, while maintaining displays and store cleanliness.

Effective communication, strong customer service, and teamwork are essential as you help supervise and train Store Associates, protect assets, and ensure a positive shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties (walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, etc).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts; support loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of the store, restrooms, floors, and waste disposal.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
