Job summary

Family Dollar in Brooklyn Park, MN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and staff development. You will help supervise store activities, ensure inventory is well-organized, and uphold company standards while maintaining a safe, customer-friendly environment.

The role includes assisting with merchandise planning, payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention, with a focus on teamwork and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform related physical duties
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays and ensure store standards
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling and cash handling
• Keep store areas clean, stocked, and presentable
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness, restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors
• Perform any other duties as assigned
