Job summary

The Salvation Army Waipahu Thrift Store is seeking an energetic Store Assistant Manager to help run daily operations in a busy retail environment. You will support the Store Manager, supervise staff, handle scheduling, training, and performance coaching, and ensure excellent customer and donor service.

Based in Waipahu, the role requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years of retail supervisory experience. Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred minimum of 2 years Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
• Must pass background check including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Must hold a valid Driver's license with access to a vehicle.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, customers and donors.
• Physical requirements: ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 lbs and move merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role with the Store Manager in day-to-day operations, including opening/closing, POS, inventory and donations.
• Assumes responsibility in the Store Manager's absence.
• Monitor and analyze KPIs to drive sales and profitability per budget.
• Schedule staff to ensure proper coverage and conduct daily briefings.
• Assist in hiring, training, and coaching store staff to ensure process proficiency.
• Communicate personnel issues and performance results with Store Manager and HR as needed.
• Maintain high levels of customer and donor satisfaction and develop strategies to improve service.
• Support Back Room Processing and ensure daily processing goals are met.
• Supervise and report on program beneficiaries as needed.
• Ensure currency, inventory and property security; adhere to ARC cash handling and safety procedures.
• Ensure safety measures align with ARC policies and report incidents promptly.
• Complete tasks assigned by Store Manager and leadership; may transfer between stores as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
