Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development at a busy location. You will assist with opening/closing, merchandise flow from delivery to floor, and maintain seasonal displays to meet company standards.

The role requires strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a high-energy team environment while ensuring a safe, friendly shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical store duties including walking, standing, kneeling, and climbing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain store fixtures, displays, and promotional materials.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Ensure policy compliance and safety guidelines are followed by all associates.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked, and presentable, including bathrooms and floors.
• Other duties as assigned.
