Job summary

Family Dollar in Clayton, New Mexico is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, help customers, and organize merchandise from delivery to floor.

The role requires strong communication and customer service skills, ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced team environment. This part-time position offers growth and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Retail store management experience in grocery, drug store, or retail environment preferred.
• Able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms and floors.
• Other duties as assigned.
