Job summary

Family Dollar in Chaparral, NM is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily store functions, merchandising, opening/closing, scheduling, and payroll while promoting a safe, customer-focused environment.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and the ability to manage in a high-energy team setting; physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform required tasks is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks (walking, standing, stooping, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Assist Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
