Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help supervise daily store functions, organize merchandise, and ensure a clean, well-stocked, and safe environment for customers and associates.

The role emphasizes strong communication, hands-on leadership, and adherence to company policies. You will support payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention while fostering a high-energy, customer-focused team atmosphere

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Record keeping activities including payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
