Job summary

Rural King is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily operations and deliver an outstanding customer experience in Champaign, IL.

In this role, you will partner with the Store Manager to drive sales, develop associates, oversee merchandising and inventory, and ensure safe, compliant store operations.

You’ll coach teams, implement strategies to improve performance, and support recruiting while living Rural King's values of People First, Integrity, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail leadership or supervisory experience.
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
• Experience with operations, merchandising, inventory, scheduling, and customer service.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze business performance and drive improvements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, retail tech, POS systems, and inventory systems.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible to varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (up to 50 hours/week).
• Must meet federal requirements for FFL where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail operations, sales performance, inventory management, merchandising, pricing, and operational excellence.
• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, coach, and develop associates and build a high-performing team.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and coach on engagement and loyalty programs.
• Promote safety, compliance (OSHA), audits, and asset protection; support cross-training and store initiatives.
