Job summary

Family Dollar in Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with daily store activities, assist customers, and organize merchandise from delivery to sales floor.

You will also participate in opening/closing tasks and uphold store standards. The role requires strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced, high-energy team

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred and ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain clean, organized store and stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep bathrooms and common areas clean and stocked; ensure areas are neat and presentable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
