Job summary

Foot Locker in San Mateo, CA is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to lead the sales floor with energy and ownership. You will coach the team, drive sales, and ensure a smooth operation while providing outstanding customer experiences and maintaining brand standards.

You’ll manage daily activities, support opening/closing, and leverage store technologies to empower associates. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of retail experience, preferably in a leadership or key holding role.
• Ability to coach, motivate, and engage a diverse team.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable, self motivated, and ready to take ownership.
• Basic understanding of retail KPIs and operational processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example on the sales floor, bringing energy and solutions to each customer interaction.
• Coach the team to deliver great service and maintain product knowledge.
• Support sales goals by staying engaged on the floor and helping close the loop with customers.
• Help manage daily store operations including opening/closing, cash handling, and floor coverage.
• Move with purpose to keep the store organized, customer ready, and running smoothly.
• Follow safety, loss prevention, and SOPs to protect customers, teammates, and product.
• Take an owner/operator mindset by addressing issues and owning store execution.
• Leverage retail technology and digital tools to enhance the customer experience and support efficient operations.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when scheduled and support hiring, onboarding, and training of associates.
