Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development in a fast-paced retail environment. You will assist with day-to-day store activities, organize merchandise, and help manage payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and leadership to maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a positive, safe atmosphere for customers and associates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits) and loss prevention.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Enforce policies, safety guidelines, and proper conduct by associates.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
