Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to uphold a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. You will assist with supervising staff, merchandising, paperwork, and deposits, while performing stocking and cashiering duties to maximize profitability and reduce losses.

As a leader on the floor, you will help schedule employees, train staff, and enforce safety and company policies. The role supports the Store Manager and requires strong communication and cash-handling skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to follow policies, manage cash handling, and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate the cash register.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, displays, and planograms.
• Maintain accurate inventory; control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensure financial integrity: cashier accountability, refunds, overrides, deposits.
• Assist in store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
