Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to uphold a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. You will assist the Store Manager with supervision, merchandising, and deposits while performing stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and reduce losses.

The role emphasizes cash handling, inventory accuracy, planogram compliance, and staff training. You will participate in opening/closing duties and help maintain security practices across the store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or strongly preferred.
• Retail experience with supervisory exposure a plus (1 year preferred, 6 months supervisory).
• Comfort with cash handling and standard store procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership at the point of sale.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, and safety meetings for employees.
• Manage merchandise receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages/markdowns.
• Assist with planograms and store presentation.
• Ensure cashier integrity and deposit procedures; authorize refunds/overrides.
• Support Store Manager in absence.
