Job summary

Dollar Tree in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development.

You will assist with day‑to‑day activities, help customers, organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor, and ensure store standards and safety guidelines are followed.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, leadership and problem‑solving skills and can thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑energy retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; reading and explaining directives required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record-keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and stockroom per company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop store associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean including bathrooms, floors, trash removal, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
