Job Title: Assistant Store Manager
Department: Donated Goods Retail (DGR)
Reports To: Store Manager
FLSA Status: NonExempt
Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the Store Manager and District Director, the Assistant Store Manager will assist with the day-to-day operations and management of the store and donation area. To ensure efficient and cost-effective operation through world-class customer service, processing donated goods, quality control, and maintaining a productive workforce.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Manage daily store operations, including opening/closing and supervising store employees.
  2. Follow the established rotating schedule unless directed otherwise.
  3. Maintain availability to support management needs outside of scheduled hours.
  4. Participate in weekly interviews to maintain staffing levels aligned with budgets.
  5. Complete daily management duties as assigned by GWH leadership.
  6. Engage in required training and development activities.
  7. Communicate clear goals to the team and influence performance.
  8. Handle sales transactions accurately and maintain cash accountability.
  9. Create and post staff schedules using the HRM system.
  10. Train, coach, and document team member performance.
  11. Assist with hiring, firing, and personnel actions.
  12. Order store supplies and manage bank deposits.
  13. Supervise donation processing and ensure proper handling of incoming donations.
  14. Conduct walking rounds (CBWA) to monitor team performance.
  15. Operate store systems and ensure accurate counts and reporting.
  16. Ensure proper rotation of inventory according to policies.
  17. Maintain punctuality and dependable attendance.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Multitask effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Follow all policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and a safe, clean work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years retail sales experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work flexible hours.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Stand/walk for entire shift, push/pull, bend, reach, climb ladders, lift up to 40 lbs. Indoor environment with moderate noise. Must work safely and maintain cleanliness.
