Total Wine & More in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to grow the brand by delivering best-in-class service and a welcoming store atmosphere. You will lead the sales team, assist in recruiting and training, manage operations, payroll, inventory, and vendor relations while ensuring compliance with alcohol regulations.

This role requires 1–3 years in retail management, a related bachelor’s degree preferred, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of work experience, with 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role in retail.
• Experience leading, motivating, and developing a sales-focused team.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Overview

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will grow the company brand by delivering best-in-class service and bringing to life a distinctive world of adult beverages and more for our customers. You will support store operations and help build a sales and service culture to expand our customer base and maximize profitability.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales and deliver against key performance metrics (KPMs)
• Assist in recruiting, training, and leading the store team, including ongoing development to enhance product knowledge and sales skills
• Support day-to-day operations, including payroll, inventory, merchandising and shrink
• Deliver outstanding customer service by leading by example, fostering a welcoming and knowledgeable store atmosphere, and resolving customer issues
• Help maintain vendor relationships to support store and inventory objectives
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred or equivalent experience
• 1–3 years of work experience, with 2+ years of proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role in a retail setting
• Experience leading, motivating, and developing a sales‑focused team
• Familiarity with point‑of‑sale systems and inventory management software
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as business requires, including evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Walk, bend down repeatedly, and be on feet for 8–10 hours a day
• Safely lift, load, and handle cases and pallets
• Climb ladders and lift 50lbs. overhead repeatedly
• May be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday
