Job summary

Total Wine & More seeks an Assistant Store Manager in Ann Arbor to grow our brand by delivering best-in-class service and leading a sales-driven team. You will report to the Store Manager and support store operations, payroll, inventory and customer engagement.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in retail with 2+ years in supervision, familiarity with POS and inventory software, and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of work experience, 2+ years in a managerial or supervisory role in retail.
• Experience leading, motivating, and developing a sales-focused team.
• Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations, including payroll, inventory, merchandising and shrink.

• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment.

About The Role
As an Assistant Store Manager, you will grow the company brand by delivering best‑in‑class service and bringing to life a distinctive world of adult beverages and more for our customers. You will support store operations and help build a sales and service culture to expand our customer base and maximize profitability. Internally, you will be referred to as Assistant Manager and report to the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales and deliver against key performance metrics (KPMs)
• Assist in recruiting, training, and leading store team, including ongoing development to enhance product knowledge and sales skills
• Support day‑to‑day operations, including payroll, inventory, merchandising and shrink
• Deliver outstanding customer service by leading by example, fostering a welcoming and knowledgeable store atmosphere, and resolving customer issues
• Help maintain vendor relationships to support store and inventory objectives
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodations)

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Walk, bend down repeatedly, and be on feet for 8–10 hours a day
• Ability to safely lift, load, and handle cases and pallets
• Climb ladders and lift 50 lb. overhead and repeatedly
• May be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday
