Job summary

The Pep Boys Manny Moe & Jack of California is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to support the service and tire team under the Store Service Manager. You will help drive sales across service labor, parts, tires, and fleets, and ensure the service repair business runs smoothly and safely.

You will assist with customer care, work orders, POS transactions, inventory control, and daily store operations, while helping train and coach service staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of automotive service experience required.
• One year of automotive service sales experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Basic math skills including fractions and percentages.
• Experience as a work lead or supervisor preferred.
• Ability to work independently and handle difficult customers.
• Comfortable with up-selling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in customer care, work order and register assistance, and merchandising.
• Ensure service equipment is in good order and housekeeping standards.
• Follow POS policies and handle inventory and vendor payment practices.
• Drive sales goals and coach service advisors on customer interactions.
• Assist in training staff on Pep Boys Customer Care Process and CVIs.
• Monitor shop productivity and back shop operations for efficiency.
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
• Open/close responsibilities as key holder.
• Communicate effectively with staff and customers.
