Job summary

Pep Boys Inc is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to support the service and tire team under the Store Service Manager. You will help drive sales across service labor, parts, tires and fleet, while ensuring efficient store operations and shop productivity aligned with company standards.

You will assist in training staff on the Pep Boys Customer Care Process and CVIs, manage daily workflows, and uphold safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of automotive service experience.
• 1 year of automotive service sales experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must understand basic math concepts for commissions and discounts.
• Experience as a work lead or supervisor preferred.
• Ability to exercise judgment and work independently.
• Ability to handle difficult customer situations.
• Comfortable using up-sell techniques.
• Strong cash handling skills including POS usage.
• Demonstrated consistency, accuracy and follow-through.
• Ability to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager of Service with customer care, work orders and register tasks, facility maintenance and merchandising activities, including tire stocking.
• Follow policies for POS, inventory, cash, and vendor payment practices.
• Collaborate with management to address customer service issues and business opportunities.
• Drive service center sales goals through personal engagement and coaching of advisors.
• Assist in training service selling staff on Pep Boys Customer Care Process and CVIs; perform CVIs as directed.
• Monitor shop productivity, workflow and safety; support back shop operations and CVI completion.
• Partner with management to maintain a safe, healthy work environment compliant with laws and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with all store staff, management and customers.
• In absence of management, act as primary supervisor for store staff; perform opening/closing tasks.
• Maintain organized and neat shop; adhere to policies, safety and environmental rules.
• Other duties as assigned.
