Job summary

APTIM seeks an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer in New Jersey to oversee heavy civil transportation projects, including bridge deck work, roadway rehab, and ITS/ESS upgrades. You will manage inspectors, drive field quality, and coordinate with NJTA/NJDOT to meet specifications.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in construction, NJTA experience, and strong MS Office/Primavera skills. This role requires on-site leadership and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering is required.
• 10+ years total construction experience.
• 8 years with NJTA experience.
• Senior Inspector, Office Engineer, and ARE experience on multimillion-dollar projects.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Primavera P6; CAPEX/DRJTBC familiarity.
• NICET IV preferred; OSHA 10-hour safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily heavy civil construction inspection of bridges, roadways, and ITS/ESS upgrades.
• Manage inspectors, resolve field issues, and ensure conformance to specs.
• Prepare reports, matrices, COs/UARs, and as-built documentation.
• Lead inspection teams; coordinate meetings with clients and agencies.
• Interface with NJTA, NJDOT, DRJTBC, and municipal representatives.
