Job summary

APTIM seeks an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer to oversee heavy civil transportation projects, including bridge deck replacements, roadway rehab, and ITS/ESS upgrades. You will supervise field inspectors, resolve site issues, and ensure compliance with agency specs while supporting Resident Engineer duties.

Responsibilities include preparing daily reports, measurements, COs/UARs, and closeout documentation; coordinating with multiple agencies and conducting meetings with clients.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years total construction experience.
• 8 years with NJTA experience or equivalent state transportation authority exposure.
• Experience as Senior Inspector, Office Engineer, and Assistant Resident Engineer on multimillion-dollar transportation projects.
• Proficient in MS Office; Primavera P6 exposure; familiarity with CAPEX and DRJTBC systems.
• OSHA-10 safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection of heavy civil work (bridge deck replacement, roadway rehab, ITS/ESS upgrades).
• Lead inspection teams; review reports and submittals; manage field documentation.
• Prepare quantity measurements, payment estimates, COs/UARs, and closeout packages.
• Coordinate traffic control, nightwork, and staging; interface with NJTA/NJDOT/DRJTBC and municipalities.
• Serve as Acting Resident Engineer when required.
