Job summary

The Town of Chapel Hill invites applications for an Assistant Recreation Supervisor at the Hargraves Community Center. The role supports daily programming and youth/teen activities, with emphasis on afterschool and community events.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contracting, purchasing, staff recruitment and training, and promoting programs to the public. Strong organizational and safety knowledge are essential, with flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two+ years’ experience in parks and recreation in community centers, youth/teen programming, and afterschool/day camps.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in parks and recreation or related field with lead or senior capacity.
• Preferred: Certified American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.
• Preferred: ability to speak Burmese, Karen, Spanish and/or Mandarin.
• Preferred: experience working with children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision and management of Hargraves Community Center operations and programming.
• Plan and evaluate youth/teen programs and community events; assist in program coordination and budgeting.
• Manage budgets, expenditures, and revenue/expense reports; assist with contracts and purchases.
• Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
• Assist with marketing campaigns and materials for programs.
