Job Description: Assistant Purchasing Program Manager

What We Are Looking For:

Yazaki seeks an Assistant Purchasing Program Manager to join our Purchasing department in Canton, MI. This role involves supporting Advanced Purchasing activities within assigned OEM Business Unit programs from pre-award through launch. The person will act as a liaison between the Customer Business Unit, Purchasing, Engineering, and manufacturing, focusing on sourcing, contracts, and supplier readiness. The role requires managing key events to ensure a flawless launch, achieving cost targets, and supporting program success. The position is hybrid.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Purchasing Program Managers with GPMS Purchasing Task Compliance
• Support sourcing of purchased parts to meet program milestones
• Generate reports for project tracking, including ASL, Power BI, ERP, and Price Reports
• Verify supplier capacity and track related activities
• Lead AP Project Overview tasks, including reporting and data management
• Assist with department reports and KPIs
• Ensure compliance with Purchasing standards and procedures
• Manage assigned programs with mentorship from PPM
• Mentor and train colleagues, demonstrating leadership
• Drive continuous improvement and results-oriented work

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
• Japanese fluency required
• 1-3+ years of Purchasing or Program Management experience preferred
• Knowledge of Program Management tools, pricing, and systems
• Ability to operate within complex projects and understand global/local Purchasing and Program goals
• Understanding of the automotive market (2nd tier suppliers, OEMs, etc.)
• Willingness to travel up to 5%, domestically and internationally (Mexico, Europe, Asia, etc.)
