Job summary

Ivory Equity is seeking an Assistant Property Manager in the New York City Metropolitan Area for a full-time, on-site role. You will support day-to-day property operations, including leasing activities, tenant onboarding and renewals, and maintaining accurate records in property management systems.

Role Description

The Assistant Property Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role supports day-to-day property operations, including coordinating leasing activities, assisting with tenant onboarding and renewals, and maintaining accurate records within property management systems. The Assistant Property Manager will respond to resident inquiries, help manage work orders and vendor schedules, and perform regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company standards. The role includes assisting with rent collection, delinquency follow-up, and basic financial reporting such as tracking expenses and preparing summaries for ownership. This position collaborates closely with the Property Manager and maintenance team to foster positive resident relationships, support community-focused initiatives, and contribute to the smooth operation and repositioning efforts of Ivory Equity’s multifamily portfolio.

  • Assist in the daily management of a mixed residential and commercial portfolio, including leasing, renewals, and tenant relations
  • Serve as a first point of contact for tenant inquiries, requests, and concerns, ensuring timely and professional resolution
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair requests with vendors and building staff, and follow through to completion
  • Support rent collection, process invoices, and help maintain accurate financial and lease records
  • Conduct property inspections and help ensure compliance with safety, lease, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare leasing documents, reports, and correspondence; maintain organized tenant and property files
  • Assist with move-ins, move-outs, and unit or space turnovers
  • Support the Property Manager with budgeting, reporting, and other operational tasks as needed
Qualifications
  • Experience in property management, leasing, or real estate operations, preferably within multifamily or residential communities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional, respectful relationships with residents, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including handling multiple tasks, maintaining accurate records, and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfort with property management software, basic office tools (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, Appfolio, Quickbooks, etc), and digital communication platforms.
  • Basic understanding of rent collection, budgeting, and expense tracking; familiarity with leases and local housing regulations is a plus.
  • Customer service mindset with a focus on responsiveness, problem-solving, and community-oriented resident support.
  • Ability to work on-site across properties in the Greater Springfield Area, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, or a related field is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a private equity, institutional, or professionally managed real estate helpful
