Job summary

GH Engage in Mount Prospect, IL is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join a growing general contractor focused on federal and commercial construction. You will support project managers from preconstruction through closeout and collaborate with stakeholders to drive successful delivery.

You will help develop schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, and documentation while coordinating with subcontractors, owners, and design teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction in roles such as Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Coordinator.
• Strong scheduling, budgeting, and project management understanding.
• Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, documentation, and client communications.
• Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore/Bluebeam.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Desire to grow into a Project Manager role.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in managing construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Assist with developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, owners, architects, and engineers to support successful project delivery.
• Assist with managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
• Track project progress, deliverables, and outstanding items to help ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Assist with reviewing subcontractor and supplier invoices, commitments, and project costs.
• Support project forecasting, financial reporting, and budget tracking.
• Help monitor compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Assist with identifying project risks, resolving issues, and implementing solutions in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Maintain organized and accurate project files and documentation.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain clear communication with internal and external project stakeholders.
• Support the Project Manager and field team with day-to-day project coordination and administration.
