Job summary

High Country Search is partnering with a respected heavy civil contractor to support planning and execution of infrastructure projects in Colorado. The Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer will link project management with field operations, ensuring documentation, procurement, schedules, and communications stay organized and on track.

Qualifications

• When applying, a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field or equivalent construction experience is required.
• 3–5 years of experience in construction project coordination, project engineering, or related roles.
• Experience supporting heavy civil infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with project documentation requirements and scheduling software is expected.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete project files, logs, and documentation per procedures.
• Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other records.
• Coordinate documentation among owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams.
• Manage the submittal process from preparation through approval.
• Coordinate procurement activities, including quotes, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Assist in developing and updating project schedules using MS Project or Primavera P6.
• Monitor milestones and communicate schedule updates to field personnel.
• Support planning by identifying upcoming material, labor, and subcontractor needs.
• Solicit and coordinate subcontractor participation; track scope, safety, and deliverables.
• Participate in project meetings and document action items and minutes.
