Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Assistant Public Art Program Manager

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week; eligible for benefits with some work on weekends and occasional evenings based on seasonal installs and events

We are a non-profit placemaking organization that uses a creative lens to address community needs, believing that cities thrive when they are full of art, engaged stakeholders, and active spaces. Through public art and innovative design, we enhance the built environment, promote social engagement, and drive positive change in communities. To date, Beyond Walls has served over 13 communities, focusing on former industrial cities, many of which have majority minority populations. These areas often face unique challenges in revitalizing their built environments and downtowns. By activating public space through creative collaborations, we bring diverse perspectives and resources together to create lasting impact.

The Assistant Public Art Program Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of Beyond Walls’ public art initiatives. This role works closely with the Chief of Staff, Program Managers, and other team members to assist with the implementation of art installations, community engagement efforts, and program logistics. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about art’s ability to create vibrant and inclusive public spaces.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Art Curation Support

  • Assist Program Managers in planning and coordinating art installations and events, ensuring alignment with Beyond Walls’ mission, values, and strategic goals.
  • Support the pre-installation, installation, and post-installation phases of artworks by coordinating logistics, managing timelines, and liaising with artists and community partners.
  • Help maintain an inventory of artwork and materials, and ensure all project documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Provide in-house support for artist curation and manage all project details related to the artwork, including documentation, logistics, and communication.

Administrative and General Support

  • Provide administrative and logistical support across all program areas, including assisting with fundraising efforts such as event planning, grant preparation, and donor communications.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help prepare and maintain organizational materials, including reports, presentations, and other resources.

Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Provide logistical support for community engagement activities, donor appreciation events, artist showcases, or community celebrations tied to funding milestones.
  • Help maintain records of community contacts and stakeholder interactions to support ongoing relationship-building efforts.
  • Support Program Managers in responding to community inquiries and feedback, ensuring timely and professional communication.

Program Coordination and Logistics:

  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, coordinating meetings, and preparing materials for presentations and events.
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets, flagging potential issues to Leadership to ensure smooth execution.
  • Assist with developing project materials and documentation that can be shared with funders and sponsors to demonstrate impact and progress.

Artist and Partner Support :

  • Serve as a resource for artists, providing logistical support and guidance to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate with vendors, building owners, and municipal partners to secure necessary permits, approvals, and resources for installations.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, arts administration, fine arts, design, urban planning, community development (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in program coordination, arts administration, or community engagement, preferably in a nonprofit or community-focused organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including artists, community members, and partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Passion for public art, community engagement, and creating inclusive spaces that foster creativity and connection.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with an understanding of social justice principles and their application in public art.
