Job summary

May Institute in Randolph, MA seeks an Assistant Program Coordinator for our Children's Residential Program. You will lead the program in the absence of the Program Manager, supervise staff, and coordinate daily activities for residents aged 3–21 with Autism and developmental disabilities.

You will support daily routines, including hygiene, meals, dressing, and medication, and create a positive, structured environment that fosters communication, play, and skill-building.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership to guide the program in the PM's absence.
  • Proven supervisory experience with diverse groups of residents.
  • Excellent communication with residents, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated empathy and patience when supporting children with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Step in as a reliable leader, supervise your team, and coordinate daily activities for all residents.
  • Support children with daily routines including hygiene, meals, dressing, and medication.

  • Utilize behavior support strategies to promote emotional regulation and reduce challenging behavior.

As an Assistant Program Coordinator (APC) in our residential program, you’ll help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can grow, thrive, and achieve greater independence.

What You’ll Do
  • Step in as a reliable leader, ensuring the program runs smoothly in the Program Manager’s absence by supervising your team, and coordinating daily activities and programs for all residents.
  • Support children with daily routines including hygiene, meals, dressing, and medication.
  • Create a positive, structured environment that encourages communication, play, and skill-building.
  • Use behavior support strategies to promote emotional regulation and reduce challenging behavior.
  • Partner with clinical, educational, and healthcare teams to support individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide transportation and community integration support for outings, appointments, and school transitions.
What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid and current U.S. driver’s license with at least 1 year of licensed driving experience.
  • Patience, compassion, and the ability to support children with diverse communication and behavioral needs.
  • Experience with children or individuals with special needs is required.
  • The capacity to provide strong supervisory and leadership skills while supporting and guiding your team with empathy, patience, and respect.
