The Assistant Professor is a full-time, tenure-track position in the Physician Assistant program at York College, CUNY. The program is seeking highly qualified applicants who will serve as principal faculty members, with full participation in teaching in areas of expertise (18-hour credit workload), program administration, development and assessment of curricular content, student advisement, and engaging in productive scholarly research. The successful candidate will be involved in student recruitment and admission activities and provide service to the college and the Health Professions Department, in addition to other related duties. Participation in the program’s continuous improvement, ongoing self-study, and accreditation processes is required for this position. Faculty in the PA program are allowed one day per week to practice clinically or engage in professional development activities. The faculty will also function as the Assistant Simulation and Laboratory Coordinator, which includes coordination of the simulation lab; developing and conducting simulation sessions; participation in and coordination of all laboratory-associated administrative tasks including ordering of supplies and equipment, maintenance of equipment, and session scheduling; and coordination of all PA program laboratory sessions (such as Anatomy Laboratory, Physical Diagnosis Laboratory, and Clinical Skills laboratory). A total of three hours of reassigned release time per annum is included for these tasks. Identifies and analyzes clinical curriculum strengths and weaknesses, suggests curriculum enhancements, and implements curricular improvements via the curriculum committee. Responsible for the collection, evaluation, and assessment of didactic and clinical-related data required for accreditation, and participates in the program’s ongoing self-study process.
$105,588 - $112,841 - Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The annual salary is based on a nine-month work year that is paid over the 12-month calendar year. The PA Program operates on an 11-month basis, and faculty who work during the summer months will receive additional compensation at the appropriate CUNY rate.
