LIU Brooklyn’s Department of Physician Assistant Studies invites applicants for a full-time, non‑tenure track assistant/associate professor position to teach in our Master of Science PA program. The twelve-month role includes 24 teaching credits, student advisement, remediation, and ARC-PA compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a NCCPA certification with NY licensure eligibility, a master’s degree from an accredited PA program, and at least three years of clinical PA experience.

Qualifications

  • NCCPA-certified PA with current New York State licensure or eligibility.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited PA program.
  • Minimum of three years clinical PA experience.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to function independently and within a team.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach didactic and clinical year students: lectures, laboratories and small group learning.
  • Provide remediation instruction to ensure student success.
  • Review and update PA syllabi and curricula.
  • Advise students in both didactic and clinical years.
  • Participate in clinical site visits as needed.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
  • Promote the PA Program and PA profession to potential students and community.
  • Participates in the review, interviewing and selection of applicants for admission to the PA Program.
  • Participate in ARC-PA program assessment, data collection and analysis and preparation of self-study reports.
  • Work collaboratively with PA and university faculty/administration.
  • Serve on Departmental, School of Health Professions and University committees.

Job description

The Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies in the School of Health Professions is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track assistant/associate professor to teach in our Master of Science program. This is a twelve-month position requiring 24 credits annual teaching workload, including both didactic and clinical year students; student advisement, remediation, and retention; university committee participation; and self-assessment evaluation as per ARC-PA and university standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach didactic and clinical year students: both lectures, laboratories and small group learning
