Job summary

Dorman is seeking an Assistant Product Manager to support development, execution and lifecycle management of products. You will partner with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to align with customer needs and business goals.

Responsibilities include market research, data analysis, and synthesizing insights for strategic planning. Strong organization and cross-functional collaboration are essential to drive product improvements and GTM activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in a corporate manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Product Management, Marketing, Data Analysis, or Strategic Sourcing preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present data clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Research new product adds using tools and datasets (e.g., product ideas, sales history, gap analysis, NYA files).
  • Perform data analysis/maintenance, populate ROIs, create part numbers, ensure portal accuracy, and update pricing files.
  • Conduct market research, visit dealers, attend regional shows, and prepare logistics templates and BOMs.

Job Summary

The Assistant Product Manager (APM) supports the development, execution, and lifecycle management of products by partnering with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain. This role plays a key part in ensuring products align with customer needs, business objectives, and market opportunities while contributing to overall growth and profitability.

The APM serves as a critical support partner to the Product Manager by conducting market research, competitive analysis, customer insight gathering, and data analysis to drive informed business decisions. This individual is responsible for synthesizing large volumes of information and effectively communicating insights and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders to support strategic planning and product initiatives.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, collaborative, and results-oriented, with a passion for product development and continuous improvement. They must demonstrate the ability to think strategically, anticipate business needs 6 to 12 months in advance, and proactively adjust plans and priorities to ensure successful execution of projects and product objectives. This role will help drive product enhancements, monitor performance metrics, support go-to-market activities, and contribute to initiatives that improve customer experience and business outcomes.

Primary Duties

Daily tasks and duties are listed but are not limited to the following:

Research New Product Adds through the use of tools.

  • New product ideas database
  • Sales History Tables
  • Gap Analysis Tools
  • Off the Shelf Lists
  • Customer Not Yet Available (NYA) Files
  • eCommerce sellers

Perform Data Analysis / Maintenance.

  • Populate ROIs based on validated, verified researched data
  • Create Part numbers
  • Add new projects to the portal as well as ensure portal isup-to-datewith relevant information
  • Update competitor interchanges and pricing files
  • Update OE Supersessions
  • Update carry up coverage
  • Create accurate ad hoc reports

Conduct Market Research.

  • Proactively visit Dealers
  • Attend local and regional shows
  • Hold bid package meetings
  • Complete logistics part template, information pertaining to part setup/MDO requests and review of Market Ready forms
  • Create Bill of Materials (BOM)formake products
Qualifications
  • Must be organized and able to multitask on many projects and provide follow-up and feedback on status
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Presentation skills and articulation of data required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a demonstrated user of MS Excel and have proficiency in MS Excel; specifically managing large amounts of data through the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP. large amounts of data through the use of pivot tables and v-looku

Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 50 pounds. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noiselevel is usually moderate.

Education / Experience

B.S. degree in Business preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a corporate manufacturing environment

2 or more years’ experience in Product Management, Marketing, Data Analysis, or Strategic Sourcing preferred

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $63,300 to $90,100. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
