Job summary

Price Rite – West Hartford, CT is hiring an Assistant Produce Manager to oversee the Produce department, maximize sales, protect assets, and maintain store standards. You’ll support the Produce Manager and Store Manager, with cross-training opportunities and a focus on safety and customer service.

The role requires a mix of education and experience, strong reading and math skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced grocery environment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
• Calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
• Apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, and lift objects as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Manage 10-15 subordinates; train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance.
• Maintain store conditions per company standards to improve profitability.
• Maximize department sales and profits; ensure proper merchandising and controls.
• Develop a team and maintain morale, communications, and working conditions.
• Open or close the store where applicable and ensure safe equipment usage.
