Job summary

Children's Cottage of Wilmington is a licensed childcare center seeking a Lead Teacher to support the Pre-K age group. The successful candidate will prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans and implement them weekly with our current curriculum guides.

This role offers Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm, competitive pay ($14–$18/hr based on education and experience), and benefits including paid trainings, 401k with match, childcare discounts, and an open-door policy.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Preference for associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.
• Ability to pass all background checks is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement lesson plans weekly across all areas of child development and use the parent communication app effectively.
• Establish a professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Ensure safety and well-being of children and maintain a clean, organized classroom.
• Maintain child assessments and portfolios; conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences in November and May.
• Physically capable of working around young children; lift up to 40 lbs. and perform daily classroom duties.

MainJob Responsibilities:

• Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement lesson plans/curriculum on a weekly basis covering all areas of child development and carry out lesson plans according to classroom schedule/daily routine; Use our parent communication app efficiently.
  
• Establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
  
• Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child, responding to their emotional needs; and maintaining an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.
  
• Maintain a child assessment and portfolio for each child, as well as conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences during the month of November and May.
  
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
  
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
  
• Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
