The Dearborn Hospital Short Stay/Observation Unit in Dearborn, MI is seeking a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager. You will oversee clinical operations with a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and delivering high-quality patient care in a 50-bed unit focused on non-critical specialties and rapid disposition.

Required are a BSN, an MI RN license, and BLS/ACLS certifications, plus at least two years of clinical experience and leadership involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
• AHA BLS certification is required.
• AHA ACLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the nurse manager, ensure effective implementation of hospital philosophy, goals, policies and procedures affecting patient care in the department.
• Lead and support short-stay/observation unit operations to maintain 23-hour disposition.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow and outcomes.

About This Unit

The Short Stay Unit/Observation Unit is a 50 bed unit (private rooms), specialized in caring for the adult population with a variety of diagnoses. A multi-disciplinary team approach in care, treatment and disposition within 23 hours. Patients can come to our unit from all areas: Emergency Center, Operating Room, procedural areas, directly from home or from their primary care physician’s office. The unit has 20 telemetry beds for patients who require cardiac monitoring. Our specialty is "All Non-Critical Specialties", due to the wide range of diagnosis. Our team works diligently in transitioning our patients to their next care area (home, placement, admission or procedural area).

Scope of work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
• Two years of clinical experience Required.
• Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, Charge nurse role) Preferred.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required.
