Job description
3 North is a 27-bed Medical Progressive Care Unit, offering a 3:1 or 4:1 nurse to patient ratio based on patient acuity. This unit is designed to care for neuro, medical, and surgical patients requiring a higher level of care. This specific patient population may also require frequent assessments and monitoring related to health state. Cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring is done at bedside with a central monitoring system at the nurse station.
Registered Nurses, Nurse Techs, Nursing Assistants, and Ward Secretaries comprise the staffing mix of this fast‑paced unit.

Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice. Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment to facilitate staff performance of patient care. Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
