Job Summary

The Assistant Meat Team Leader assists the Meat Manager in leading the Meat Department by managing Team Members, ordering raw materials, and implementing merchandising initiatives to grow the business, meet customer needs, and maximize profits.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 3 to 5 years
• Experience Desired: Management experience in Meat operations or related field; Customer Service experience; Knowledge of Market District meat procedures; Ability to interpret Profit and Loss statements
• Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification or Licensing Required: Meat cutting certification
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years old

Job Responsibilities

• Assist Meat Manager in department operations, including ordering, assigning tasks, and maintaining conditions.
• Help customers with meat cuts and restocking sales cases.
• Monitor product levels and prepare products for sale.
• Follow procedures to meet out-of-stock goals.
• Support team development and identify candidates for management training.
• Understand and comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Unloading and checking deliveries.
• Stock frozen foods and lunch meats, and maintain cold-chain integrity.
• Adhere to safety protocols per Health Department, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies.
• Share food knowledge and promote learning among team members.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Provide excellent customer service with integrity and professionalism.
• Foster a diverse, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
