Job summary

Jimmy John's Position Summary!

• Support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations while maintaining high standards of food quality, customer service, and operational efficiency.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate team members during assigned shifts, including overseeing approximately 3–15 employees based on restaurant needs.
• Train, coach, and develop team members to ensure consistent execution of Jimmy John's operational and service standards.
• Oversee food preparation, sandwich production, order accuracy, and service operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including food preparation, equipment checks, cash reconciliation, and restaurant readiness.
• Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering and receiving supplies, and maintain proper storage and rotation of food products.
• Forecast food preparation needs based on sales volume and business demands to minimize waste and maintain product availability.
• Supervise food safety, sanitation, and security procedures to ensure a clean, organized, and safe restaurant environment.
• Assist team members during high-volume lunch periods and other peak business hours to maintain efficient restaurant operations.
• Coordinate delivery operations, including assigning orders and supporting delivery drivers to promote timely and accurate service.
• Oversee POS (Point of Sale) operations, cash handling procedures, register reconciliation, and daily financial accountability.
• Complete required daily and weekly reports, operational paperwork, and shift documentation accurately and on time.
• Assist with monitoring labor productivity, food costs, inventory usage, and operational performance.
• Ensure restaurant equipment is properly maintained and report maintenance or safety concerns to management.
• Address guest concerns professionally and assist in resolving employee or operational challenges.
• Follow and enforce company policies and procedures, including those related to attendance, uniforms, food safety, workplace safety, and loss prevention.
• Support the General Manager in meeting restaurant performance goals and maintaining a positive, team‑oriented work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Previous restaurant management, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead, coach, and motivate employees in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.
• Strong basic math, cash handling, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage inventory, monitor food preparation needs, and complete operational reports.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with POS systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, or similar applications.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities, delegate tasks, and make sound operational decisions.
• Availability to work various shifts, including daytime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours based on business needs.
• Reliable attendance and the ability to meet the scheduling requirements of the position.
• A positive attitude and commitment to teamwork, operational excellence, and exceptional guest service.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position operates in a fast‑paced restaurant environment and may involve exposure to food preparation equipment, sharp utensils, moving mechanical parts, kitchen hazards, cleaning chemicals, refrigerated areas, and moderate noise levels.

The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements throughout the shift, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Assistant Managers may also be required to enter walk‑in refrigerators and freezers with temperatures ranging from approximately 40°F to -10°F, depending on assigned duties. All duties involving food preparation equipment, including slicers and other potentially hazardous equipment, must comply with applicable federal and state child labor laws.
