General Description
- The candidate may have several direct & indirect employees.
- Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of major mechanical components in a Powerhouse, such as turbines, main inlet valves, oil pumping units, and BOP systems like cooling water, compressed air, drainage, and dewatering systems.
- Assess systems regularly to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Manage a team and conduct analyses to identify improvements.
- Experience in erection, commissioning, installation, and maintenance of hydro power plants of at least 100 MW capacity is required.
- Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of turbines, MIV, and BOP systems of at least 100 MW capacity is essential.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Prepare detailed resources for activities involving turbines (Pelton / Francis / Kaplan), main inlet valves, oil pumping units, and mechanical BOP systems, including work division among supervisors.
- Develop risk assessments and action plans for maintenance activities, reviewed and confirmed by EHS representatives.
- Coordinate annual, monthly, and daily maintenance activities for turbines and BOP systems.
- Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Implement condition-based monitoring and plan maintenance accordingly.
- Plan critical spares to maximize machine availability.
- Perform root cause analysis for breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors/OEMs for spares and services.
- Conduct technical, behavioral, and safety trainings for staff and contractors.
- Develop SOPs and operating procedures for systems.
- Manage plant maintenance and inventory to maximize availability and control costs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and reports.
- Lead a motivated, skilled, and cross-trained team.
YOU’RE GOOD AT
- Erection, commissioning, installation, and maintenance of turbines, valves, and related equipment.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for turbines, auxiliaries, and alignment of fluid film bearings.
- Understanding of various pumps, compressors, valves, bearings, shaft seals, and nozzle assemblies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
- Adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage.
YOU BRING
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute.
- 4-10 years of industry experience, with 3-5 years in maintenance of hydro power plant equipment of at least 100 MW capacity.
- Experience in erection, commissioning, and maintenance of hydro power plants of similar capacity.
- Ability to manage maintenance activities to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
