Essential Functions
- Supervise assigned underwriting team and enforce established guidelines and procedures.
- Answer questions from the team and explain recommendations for complex situations.
- Coordinate with underwriters, marketing, and branch management in planning and review processes.
- Manage existing and develop new agency relationships to grow profitable business and rehabilitate unprofitable or low-growth relationships.
- Meet with and educate agents about EMC products, underwriting appetite, systems, and services to generate quality new business opportunities.
- Monitor business decisions to ensure adherence to guidelines, authority limits, rate goals, and service directives, ensuring proper pricing across the book.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, business administration, or relevant experience.
- Minimum of six years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
- Preferred: CPCU or other underwriting-related designations.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of underwriting and risk analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Leadership ability to motivate and guide teams.
- Ability to communicate products, procedures, and business systems effectively.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally; valid driver’s license required if driving.
Additional Information
The salary range varies by location, approximately $90,000-$124,000 or $99,000-$137,000, depending on factors such as education, experience, and geographic location.
