Big Blue Swim School is seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations, lead Swim Associates, and deliver an exceptional experience for swimmers and families. This salaried leadership role requires presence on the floor, strong people skills, and a focus on standards and safety.

You will manage scheduling, billing follow-up, and staff development, while ensuring pool cleanliness and compliance with certifications. Spanish fluency is a plus and weekend availability is needed.

About The Role

The Assistant Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the swim school: leading Swim Associates, delivering an outstanding experience for swimmers and families, and holding the standard when it matters most. This is a salaried, hands‑on leadership role that requires presence on the floor, not just in the office.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Manage, coach, and develop Swim Associates to company standards
• Conduct monthly evaluations and weekly 1:1s with direct reports
• Facilitate staff training and continuing education
• Enforce all safety procedures and required certifications
• Help plan and organize monthly staff events with the General Manager

Sales & Customer Experience

• Own the conversion of trial families into enrolled weekly swimmers. You don't just run trials, you close them
• Deliver proactive, high-quality communication with families on swimmer progress and next steps
• Train Front Desk Support on current promotions and customer service best practices
• Resolve customer concerns with confidence and care, turning difficult moments into lasting loyalty

Spanish fluency a plus.

Operations & Standard Work

• Ensure accurate and timely timekeeping across the team
• Manage scheduling, billing follow-up, and reviewing reports
• Complete shift leader checklists and ensure opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures are followed
• Oversee pool cleanliness, water quality, and pump room operations
• Maintain inventory and assist with ordering
• Be able to teach lessons and get certified in all 10 Big Blue Swim School levels
• Facilitate weekly 1:1 with the General Manager

What We're Looking For

Someone who is already operating at a high level and ready to step in and make an immediate impact. You understand that standard work is the foundation everything else is built on, and you hold yourself to it consistently.

• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a fast‑paced, people‑facing environment
• Strong sales instincts. You connect with people and know how to move them to a decision
• Operationally reliable. Detail‑oriented and accountable with timekeeping, scheduling, and compliance
• Emotionally intelligent. Effective in difficult conversations, with frustrated customers and with your team
• Proactive problem‑solver. You spot gaps before they become issues and act without being asked
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must be available to work weekends, including high‑volume trial blocks
• Ability to work in and around a pool environment; must be able to lift 50 lbs
