Assistant Maintenance Director

We are seeking dynamic, friendly, and positive team members to join our team.

Apartment Management Professionals (AMP) proudly manages first-rate communities in some of the most desirable locations throughout Austin.

The Assistant Maintenance Director is responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment, apartment buildings, and machines. Tasks include plumbing, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, electrical repairs, and heating and air conditioning system maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, flooring, carpentry, drywall, and pool systems.
  2. Respond to work orders within 24-48 hours and complete repairs promptly.
  3. Assist the Maintenance Director in routine inspections to ensure safety standards and compliance with local, regional, and governmental regulations.
  4. Respond to tenant requests promptly, providing excellent customer service.
  5. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws, including Fair Housing regulations.
  6. Perform all other duties as required and assigned.
SKILLS and REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, drywall/paint, carpentry, ceramic/tile, and appliance installation/removal and repairs.
  • HVAC, EPA, and CPO certifications are required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of general maintenance experience, including at least one (1) year in apartment maintenance.
  • Experience in turnovers/make-readies of vacant units in the multifamily industry is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel for extended periods, and lift over 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • General office and workroom environment.
  • Exposure to weather conditions when walking and working on the property.
