Job summary

Montville Township Public Library seeks an innovative Assistant Director to join the leadership team, overseeing daily operations, staff supervision, and acting in the Director’s absence. This role emphasizes marketing, outreach, and collaborative planning with the Board and township officials.

The successful candidate will bring MLS/MLIS credentials, at least four years of management experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Ability to obtain New Jersey Professional Librarian Certification.
• Minimum four years of post-MLS/MLIS professional experience with demonstrated management or administrative experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily library operations and supervise staff.
• Lead programs, services, and community outreach efforts.
• Develop marketing, public relations, and fundraising strategies with the Director and Board.
• Plan and participate in strategic planning and library events, including 2027 planning process.
