Hey There! We would love for you to come join our team at Lil Shalom in downtown Portland. We are an Eastern Mediterranean restaurant that focuses on street food, hummus, and pita sandwiches.
Job Summary :
We are looking for a strong line cook with an interest in leading a small kitchen team. Some experience with ordering, inventory, and coaching is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.
This position will work closely with the Chef de Cuisine on kitchen prep, organization, inventory, ordering, and line cook training. The role is primarily evenings and weekends, with some morning or mid shifts possible. The daily duties will vary, requiring someone who is flexible and adaptable.

Reports to : Chef de Cuisine, Culinary Director
Qualifications :
- 2+ years experience as a lead line cook or similar role. Management experience is a plus.
- Passion and desire to lead a team and work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of Mediterranean food and ingredients (preferred).
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques.
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking with good follow-up.
- Strong auditory skills, as tickets are called verbally and stations do not receive a physical ticket.
- Proven timeliness, ability to meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
- Ability to lead and work positively with a team, maintaining composure under stress.
- Valid Food Handlers card or willingness to obtain one upon employment.
What you'll do :
Assist in all line positions and prep projects, with a varied schedule.
Oversee and direct line cook production alongside the Chef de Cuisine.
Ensure efficient workflow and consistent product quality.
Coach and train team members, providing performance feedback as needed.
Manage daily prep lists, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Assist line cooks with prep as needed.
Order and organize back-of-house supplies such as produce, meats, seafood, and specialty goods, ensuring FIFO practices.
May have supervisory duties in the absence of the Chef de Cuisine and Store Manager.
