Helping Up Mission, Inc. in Baltimore is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources to plan, organize, and manage all HR, benefits, and payroll functions for a staff of over 130 at the Baltimore campus, a Florida campus, and off-site remote employees.

Reporting to the General Counsel & Chief Administrative Officer, the role leads Recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, employee relations, compliance with state and federal laws, payroll administration, and policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of HR management experience.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Employee Life Cycle: job descriptions, postings, recruitment, interviews, references, offers.
• Coordinate onboarding: background checks, drug screenings, I-9 verification, benefits enrollment.
• Lead performance management, appraisals, coaching.
• Develop training and professional development programs.
• Provide employee relations support and handling disciplinary actions.
• Oversee payroll processing and payroll metrics.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and HR policies.
